One of the greatest albums of all time? In my opinion, quite possibly. Musically, this is definitely up there among the best. Frank Zappa's arrangements are breath-taking upon first listen and beyond.

Frank Zappa's first solo album, Hot Rats, is a far-cry from the da-da adventures and audio collages of the original Mothers of Invention. Mostly instrumental, and filled with long jams between Zappa, Jean- Luc Ponty and Ian Underwood, this slickly produced album--one of the first 16-track recordings ever made--is filled with hummable tunes. The opening track, "Peaches en Regalia", is one of Zappa's most enduring songs and the album's only vocal track, "Willie the Pimp", is by Zappa's long-time friend Don Van Vliet, aka Captain Beefheart. -- Andrew Boscardin

Not many blues guitarists have had the influence or the staying power that SRV achieved in his time and not many ever will, such is the brilliance and talent on display in every one of his songs. From his covers of traditional blues, his blistering Hendrix covers all the way through to his own songs there isn't anyone playing quite like that anymore!

Pelican is a four-piece instrumental band hailing from Chicago, Illinois who have since relocated to Los Angeles. The band is known for its dense combinations of different melodies and extended track lengths. Their distinctive sound draws from doom metal as well as post-rock and many other influences, making them exemplary proponents of post-metal.

City Of Echoes, their latest release is by far their best. If you're a fan of Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky, I highly recommend Pelican.

The Power Of Eternity is Andy Powell's Wishbone Ash latest release and it's a solid one. Really, only one track is unworthy of its place on the album (Your Indulgence). If you're a fan of more recent Wishbone Ash, then this is a must have. If you're a Argus fan only, you may find this album a bit too far removed.
